Guidelines for CAT Volunteer Activities

  • Eligible organizations must be tax-exempt under IRS Section 501(c) (3), educational or government.
  • Individuals, travel, individual schools, religious or political groups will not be considered for volunteer resources.
  • All requests should be in writing. Please complete attached form (click here for a printable version).
  • Scheduling priorities are programs that directly enhance the quality of life or essential services in areas of Company impact (Pima County and White Mountain service areas) and add value to the community.
  • Agencies with a TEP employee serving on the board of directors or in a leadership capacity are given special consideration.
  • All CAT projects require a TEP employee to serve as the TEP CAT Project Coordinator so even when a project meets guidelines, a project coordinator must also be determined. TEP encourages employee volunteerism and community leadership, so agency requests which include a TEP contact are accommodated whenever possible. If no coordinator steps forward, the activity request may be declined.
  • Normally only volunteer activities that can be accommodated outside of regular work hours are considered. Services to agencies during regular work hours are considered corporate in-kind contributions, not volunteerism, and should be directed to Community Relations staff.
  • Agency requests should be submitted as early as possible. Requests are reviewed at CAT Steering Committee meetings that are held on the second Wednesday of each month. Large projects need to allow adequate research time.
  • Requests should provide clear, measurable goals; a timetable; and a budget for proposed project.
  • The length and complexity of the project; and the financial and material resources required, will weigh significantly in the CAT Steering Committee's decision to accept or decline the request.
  • Agency agrees to recognize the TEP volunteers' contribution of time and talent.

If you feel your volunteer activity generally meets the above guidelines, please complete the attached form and mail or fax it to TEP Community Relations. A member of the CAT Steering Committee will respond to your request within one week following the monthly CAT Steering Committee meeting. If you have questions, please contact the Community Relations office at 884-3741 or acunes@tep.com.

Please visit tep.com for complete lists of programs and thank you for your support of volunteerism and your work to build a stronger community.

Sincerely,

Anna M Cuñes
TEP Community Relations Coordinator.
